Snells Beach is home to our established and peaceful Mahurangi preschool. With extensive outdoor spaces both upstairs and downstairs for children from 2 years old, providing stimulating imaginative play and learning.
Our excellent, experienced teaching teams will be ready to welcome you to our Snells Beach Centre at any time. The centre has two separate learning environments, currently catering for children between 2-6 years-old. As our teaching team grows, the upstairs environment will cater for our younger toddlers. The indoor and outdoor flow at the centre supports and provides opportunities for children to explore a range of activities including baking, woodwork, gardening, climbing trees and riding bike.
Children should learn at their own pace and with plenty of free play, so our teachers engage the children on their level – observing, noticing, recognising and responding to what the child is doing.
The structure of the day is organised in such a way as to maximise a variety of learning experiences and to support individual styles of learning.
Each session we have a time together on the mat sharing bible stories, children’s interests, songs, numeracy and phonics. Each mat time is highly interactive and creates a platform for relevant activities to support Te Reo Maori and cultural identities and languages.
We include all ages in one learning space as we believe this encourages children of different ages to learn from each other. It also means children don’t have to transition through different classes as they grow.
We provide a high level of flexibility and options available for families.

Please note: We recommend a minimum of two sessions per week.
We have an open door policy; parents and other interested adults are welcome to visit at any time without an appointment.

Absenteeism / Sickness
Fees are charged as per permanent booking.
A late fee of $1 per minute shall be payable for children who are picked up after the centre’s specified end of session time.
Two casual sessions are available per term at the centre manager’s discretion when space allows.
